Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Melbourne is seeking a Commissioning Engineer for Power Generation to manage and safely commission diesel generator projects. You will prepare commissioning procedures, perform full pre- and post-commissioning tests, and coordinate with OEMs, contractors and datacentre operators to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with standards.

The role requires a strong electrical or mechanical background, experience with critical power systems in datacentres, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background, with preference for electrical knowledge.
• Experience with mission critical power systems, preferably in datacentres.
• Understanding pf UPS-Generator interaction and harmonic considerations.
• Ability to interpret schematics, SLDs, control logic, and OEM manuals.
• High safety awareness in high-energy, live environments.
• Willingness to travel to sites within CBD or remote areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform full commissioning of diesel generator systems from pre-commissioning to final commissioning.
• Execute cold and hot testing including load bank tests, ATS and switchboard sequence testing.
• Validate integration with Datacentre electrical distribution (LV/HV), UPS, BMS/SCAD/PLC controls, PMS.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, fuel, and control system issues; tune governor, AVR and control parameters.
• Produce commissioning procedures, test scripts, as-built documentation, and handover packs; ensure compliance with standards.
• Report weekly the status of all projects – cost, milestones, delivery or technical issues.
