Job summary

ING is evolving its database landscape toward cloud-based platforms and is seeking a Senior Database Engineer who can bridge traditional DBA work with modern cloud engineering, SQL Server and PostgreSQL on Azure.

You will design, build and support highly available database platforms, drive automation through CI/CD, mentor peers, and help ING expand PostgreSQL capabilities as it transforms its cloud journey.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and supporting enterprise SQL Server environments.
• Hands-on PostgreSQL experience or strong capability to build it in a cloud-first strategy.
• Exposure to Azure cloud technologies and modern infrastructure delivery practices.
• Experience with automation and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Terraform).
• Strong operational mindset and incident resolution in high-availability environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support highly available, secure database platforms across SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Azure.
• Drive ING’s cloud transformation by expanding PostgreSQL and Azure capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and delivery teams to provide scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Lead automation and modern engineering practices through CI/CD approaches.
• Maintain security, resilience and operational readiness of database platforms.
• Mentor team members and uplift engineering capability across the database community.
• Lead technical problem-solving for critical systems where reliability is essential.
