Flybuys is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to own end‑to‑end data platforms and drive data products from discovery through delivery, governance and improvement. You will combine hands‑on engineering with people leadership to deliver reliable, governed data that creates measurable value for members, partners and Flybuys.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with leadership experience.
• Extensive experience designing, building, and managing data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Google BigQuery, Snowflake) and related technologies.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience in other relevant languages.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, lineage and data security throughout the data lifecycle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including cross‑functional collaboration and governance.
• Proven experience leading distributed data engineering teams across time zones.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement data engineering platforms; maintain infrastructure-as-code for scalable data solutions.
• Lead, manage and develop data engineers through coaching and reviews.
• Design and implement data models, ingestion, transformation and streaming pipelines.
• Define data governance and technical standards for quality, lineage, privacy and security.
• Evaluate emerging data engineering methods and use AI-assisted engineering to improve development and operations while meeting governance requirements.
• Partner with product, squads and stakeholders to frame data opportunities and validate options.
• Own data engineering initiatives from discovery to production improvement; manage estimates and blockers.
• Ensure data platforms are observable, resilient and producible; implement monitoring and incident response.
• Enable self-service data pipelines for other teams with reviews and support; coordinate with security and architecture.
• Contribute to data roadmaps and communicate risks, costs and trade-offs for prioritisation.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
