Job summary

State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) within the NSW Department of Customer Service is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead a data engineering team and deliver scalable data platforms. Qualifications

• Experience as principal/lead engineer or senior technical leader in large enterprises.
• Demonstrated leadership of high-performing technical teams.
• Extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale data platforms and analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing Data Quality Analysts and Tech Support team.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for analytics platforms and data ingestion frameworks.
• Design and deliver data engineering and analytics solutions aligned with standards and requirements.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT solutions for analytics and reporting.
• Lead development across Data Engineering initiatives with design guidance and peer review.
• Apply expertise in data ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, and reporting for scalable data solutions.
• Mentor Senior Data Engineers and data-focused staff to achieve project outcomes.
• Collaborate with business and tech stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.
