Simplyai is seeking a motivated Senior Data Engineer in Sydney with strong GCP (BigQuery, Vertex AI), DBT and SQL experience to build and optimize scalable data pipelines and enable reliable data delivery across the organization.

You will design transformation workflows, collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams, and implement CI/CD and data governance practices. Seniority implies potential team leadership on select client projects.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of total IT experience (senior level).
• 1–2 years focused on DBT and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Cloud Composer, and other GCP components.
• Proficient in DBT model development, testing, and documentation.
• Strong Python skills for data transformation and scripting.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and manage scalable data pipelines using GCP services like BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Storage.
• Develop and maintain transformation logic and data models in DBT.
• Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability across all pipeline stages.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver data solutions.
• Implement best practices for data engineering, version control, and CI/CD.
• May lead a small team (3–5 engineers) for client projects.
