Job summary

AWS Infrastructure Services, part of Amazon, is seeking a Senior Architect to join the APAC CSA design team in Sydney. You will shape prototypical DC facilities, guide design standards, and lead complex projects with global implications.

As a subject matter expert, you’ll provide technical guidance, manage external consultants, coordinate with MEP engineers, and ensure compliance with national and international design requirements. Occasional travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities

Responsibilities

• Work with the other design and engineering professionals on concepts and build projects.
• Manage a portfolio of data center designs and features.
• Development and maintenance of Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for architectural/civil/structural elements.
• Create architectural/civil/structural design RFPs.
• Manage the work of our external architectural/civil/structural design consultants.Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, consultant selection activities, internal design meetings, construction review, and to interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), design consultants, quantity surveyors, and building owners.
• Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
• Perform and present business case analysis.
• Motivated, dependable and capable of working with limited oversight.
