Job summary

Latitude IT is partnering with an established technology organisation to recruit a Senior Data Architect / Database Architect on a permanent basis in Melbourne. This hands-on role focuses on structuring complex database environments and aligning data platforms with business needs.

Initially you’ll map the current environment, analyse schemas and data flows, and document integrations. The role then expands to ongoing data architecture, migration, reporting and governance across the platform, with

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with MySQL and AWS Aurora in complex environments.
• Strong SQL and database architecture capabilities.
• Experience with discovery, reverse engineering and technical documentation.
• Ability to map data flows across applications and integrations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Methodical approach to investigating technical environments.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and document the existing database environment.
• Analyse schemas, relationships and data structures.
• Reverse-engineer how data moves through applications and systems.
• Collaborate with developers to understand application data flows.
• Map user journeys with Product Managers to understand data capture and use.
• Document integrations and key data flows across the platform.
• Identify legacy technology, technical debt and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop clear data models and supporting documents.
• Provide recommendations to support future platform development and data initiatives.
• Broaden into database architecture, administration and performance tuning.
• Lead data migration and reporting initiatives.
• Support data governance and broader data architecture projects.
