Qualifications

• 10+ years across data and technology with 5+ years as Data/Solution Architect.
• Hands-on Databricks, or Snowflake/BigQuery experience with Databricks competency.
• Strong Azure cloud and data architecture expertise.
• Experience owning an established data platform and maturing it.
• Strong data modelling including conceptual/logical modelling and Data Vault/semantic layers.
• Experience reviewing designs from consultancies or SI partners.
• Strong stakeholder skills and collaborative approach.
• Experience across multidisciplinary data, analytics, engineering and governance teams.
• Focus on enabling analytics and decision-making with data architecture.
• APRA-regulated environment experience would be highly regarded.
• Experience with Unity Catalog, Purview, data mesh, Terraform, CI/CD for data platforms or Databricks Asset Bundles advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own the target data architecture and roadmap for our data platform, primarily Azure and Databricks.
• Assess current environment and technical debt; establish a pragmatic transition roadmap.
• Act as the design authority for data, setting standards and making key decisions.
• Ensure the architecture balances scalability, performance, resilience, security and cost.
• Simplify the data and analytics technology landscape toward the target state.
• Provide independent architectural assurance over solutions delivered by delivery partners.
• Review designs and challenge technical debt, keeping solutions to our standards.
• Lead the transition of architecture ownership in-house and build team capability.
