Job summary

Avant by Doctors for Doctors in Melbourne is looking for a senior Data Architect to own and evolve our data platform architecture across Azure and Databricks. You will shape data models, set governance standards, and work closely with engineers, governance, and business teams to unlock trusted data and insights.

You will lead an in-house transition of architecture ownership, ensure security and regulatory alignment, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to drive measurable business

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data/technology with 5+ years operating as a Data Architect or Solution Architect.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Azure; familiarity with Snowflake/BigQuery is a plus.
• Strong cloud and data architecture expertise, ideally within Azure.
• Experience leading a data platform’s maturity, optimisation, and simplification.
• Strong data modelling capability including conceptual/logical modelling and data vault approaches.
• Experience working with consultancies or SI partners and reviewing designs.

Responsibilities

• Own the target data architecture and roadmap for the data platform (Azure/Databricks).
• Define and govern modelling standards across domains (member, product, claims, finance).
• Lead in-house architecture ownership and coach engineers/analysts.
• Embed governance, security, privacy, retention into architectural decisions.
• Represent data architecture in governance bodies and align with business priorities.
