Job description

Shape the future of reporting while working from where you do your best work

Are you an experienced reporting and analytics professional who enjoys turning complex business information into practical insights?

At CoAct, we're a purpose-driven, not-for-profit organisation committed to creating opportunities and changing lives through employment services and community activation. We're transforming the way we use data and reporting across the organisation and are looking for a Senior Data and Reporting Analyst to help us on that journey.

This role offers the opportunity to work on modern reporting technologies, influence business decision-making and enjoy genuine flexibility through a hybrid and remote-friendly working environment.

About the role

As a Senior Data and Reporting Analyst, you'll provide senior technical expertise across reporting, analytics and business intelligence. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and project leads to design, develop and improve reporting solutions that support informed decision-making across the organisation.

You'll lead stakeholder engagement, reporting design, data quality assurance and reporting transformation initiatives while helping establish sustainable reporting practices, governance and controls.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities to gather, document and prioritise reporting, analytics and business intelligence requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to define business requirements, key performance indicators, metrics, business rules and reporting outcomes.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, business cases and reporting solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership across CoAct's transition from MODE reporting to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric-based reporting environments.
  • Analyse existing reporting solutions and recommend opportunities for consolidation, redesign, migration or retirement.
  • Design, develop and maintain dashboards, management reports and self-service reporting solutions.
  • Support the introduction of natural language query reporting capabilities using governed data and agreed business definitions.
  • Use SQL to analyse, validate and reconcile data, investigate reporting issues and support reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain strong reporting governance, data quality standards, controls and documentation.
  • Lead report validation, user acceptance testing and business acceptance activities.
  • Identify reporting risks, data discrepancies and improvement opportunities and recommend practical solutions.
  • Provide technical mentoring, guidance and knowledge sharing across Power BI, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric and reporting best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across business and technical teams to deliver valuable reporting outcomes.
About you

You're an experienced reporting and analytics professional who enjoys solving complex business problems and helping organisations make better decisions through data.

You can confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels, translate technical concepts into plain English and provide trusted advice on reporting, analytics and data governance.

You enjoy sharing knowledge, supporting others and continuously improving systems, processes and reporting capabilities.

Skills and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Data Analyst, Senior Reporting Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst or similar role.
  • Experience delivering enterprise reporting, analytics or data warehousing solutions using Power BI, Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Experience supporting reporting transformation initiatives, including self-service reporting and reporting platform migration.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, reporting governance, reconciliations and reporting controls.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into practical reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports and analytical solutions, including testing, validation and user acceptance activities.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing within a data and reporting environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in data analytics, information technology, computer science, business intelligence, statistics or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
  • Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Fabric is highly desirable.
What we offer
