Job summary

Scentre Group seeks a Senior Data Analyst for its Energy & Renewables team in Sydney. The role focuses on data collection, management and analysis to optimise energy usage and profitability across embedded networks and energy services.

You will work with SQL, Cognos, TM1, R or Python, and visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI to deliver actionable insights for stakeholders. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Sydney.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in a data analytics field involving management and manipulation of large data sets
• Experience processing data in large-scale environments using SQL, Cognos and TM1; knowledge of R and/or Python desired
• Ability to translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders
• Knowledge of energy data and metering data is a plus

Senior Data Analyst- Energy & Renewables

An interesting part of our business is our Embedded Networks and Energy & Renewables Team, which manage the energy requirements for our destinations to power air conditioning, lighting, vertical transport, and key infrastructure. We also on-sell the supply of energy to our retailers.

The Energy & Renewables team is a specialist function responsible for optimising Scentre Group’s energy operations, procurement and energy-related services. Working at the intersection of commercial performance, sustainability and analytics, the team manages energy purchasing, energy on-sell services, embedded networks, billing optimisation, green certificate programs and energy data to support operational performance and Scentre Group’s Net Zero ambitions. Combining market intelligence, commercial thinking and analytical expertise, the team helps Scentre Group navigate the evolving energy landscape, improve performance and identify opportunities to create sustainable long-term value.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

• You will develop and implement methods for collecting, managing and analysing data and related business intelligence capabilities


• Undertake analytical projects to answer key energy questions, and provide actionable intelligence to stakeholders to optimise and reduce energy usage


• Research electricity market and prepare competitive energy offers to customers and provide analysis on margin and profitability to internal stakeholders


• Own and operate operational processes to manage data flows on a day to day basis to support analysis and contribute to the progressive definition and automation of data processes.


• Assist the energy group in providing insights and recommendation into business improvements to support purchasing, billing, billing reconciliation, energy use and assessment of new projects.


• Drive proactive insight through data driven decision making and present recommendations that promote the more effective and efficient operation of the energy business


• Carry out modelling and analysis on large complex disparate data sets to distil business insights and forecasts

What setsyouapart

• 3-5 years’ experience in a data analytics field involving the management and manipulation of large complex data sets into actionable and accurate information


• Tertiary qualifications in information technology / Engineering / business or a related field


• Experience processing data in large-scale environments using SQL, Cognos, TM1 and ideally R and/or Python programming and technology stacks such as AWS, Azure or Google Big query


• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving


• Ideally you will have experience in analysing energy and metering data (but not essential)


• Advanced experience with data processing and visualisations tools like Excel, Tableau PowerBI
