Job summary

Western Power is expanding its Cyber Security team and seeks a Senior Cyber Engineer to design, implement and optimise DLP, data discovery, and insider risk management across on-prem and cloud environments. You will collaborate with technology teams and stakeholders to deliver secure outcomes and drive continuous security improvements.

The role emphasizes governance, regulatory alignment and effective data protection across enterprise data assets.

Qualifications

  • Experience in information and records management within a complex organisation.
  • Knowledge of information governance, compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and optimising DLP controls across endpoints, network and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and continuously enhance DLP controls across endpoint, network and cloud environments to protect critical business information.
  • Lead enterprise-wide data discovery, classification and sensitivity labelling initiatives, improving visibility and governance across structured and unstructured data assets.
  • Act as the key point of contact for data security queries, approvals and stakeholder engagement, providing trusted advice across the organisation.
  • Drive Insider Risk Management capabilities, including policy development, detection engineering and support for data security investigations.
  • Develop and mature data security posture management capabilities, identifying risks and opportunities to strengthen organisational resilience.
  • Own the organisation's sensitivity labelling framework, ensuring effective information protection and alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and report on DLP performance metrics, delivering meaningful insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Shape and execute the DLP strategy and roadmap, driving continuous improvement and innovation in data protection practices.
  • Manage and enhance data security automation capabilities to improve operational efficiency and strengthen security outcomes.
  • Monitor control effectiveness, identify control drift and implement improvements to maintain a robust and evolving security posture.

We're expanding our Cyber Security team and are looking for experiencedSenior Cyber Engineer to help strengthen and evolve our enterprise security capabilities. In these roles, you'll play a critical part in designing, implementing and optimising cyber security controls across areas including Data Loss Prevention, Network Security, Email Security and Cloud Security. Working closely with technology teams and stakeholders, you'll help deliver resilient, secure technology outcomes while driving continuous improvement across our cyber security environment.

Your Role in Action
  • Design, implement and continuously enhance Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls across endpoint, network and cloud environments to protect critical business information.
  • Lead enterprise-wide data discovery, classification and sensitivity labelling initiatives, improving visibility and governance across structured and unstructured data assets.

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Demonstrated experience in information and records management within a complex organisational environment.
  • Experience working with PRIS or similar information management and records systems.
  • Strong knowledge of information governance, compliance and regulatory requirements, with the ability to translate obligations into practical outcomes.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and optimising Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls across endpoint, network and cloud environments.
  • Experience developing and managing Insider Risk Management policies, monitoring capabilities and detection frameworks to identify and mitigate information security risks.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and customer service skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.
