Job summary

Commercial Fire Group in Melbourne, VIC, is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join the Service division. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee accounts receivable and debt collection across the service portfolio.

You will own aged debt, resolve invoicing issues, negotiate payment plans, and coordinate with clients, technicians and internal teams while ensuring compliance with Australian debt collection regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in credit collections or accounts receivable
• Experience in service-based industries such as trades or maintenance
• Ability to identify root causes of billing issues
• Knowledge of Australian debt collection regulations

Responsibilities

• Manage the accounts receivable and debt collection function for the Service division
• Take ownership of debtor ageing and the end-to-end collections process
• Negotiate payment arrangements on overdue accounts
• Manage complex and escalated collection matters, including write-off or legal action recommendations
• Assess customer risk and monitor credit terms
• Maintain records of collection activities and communications
• Report on aged receivables and collection rates
• Identify opportunities to improve credit and invoicing processes
• Develop relationships with clients, technicians and internal stakeholders
• Ensure all collection activity complies with Australian debt collection regulations
