Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) seeks a Counsellor or Psychologist to join the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services at Kirketon Road Centre. Postgraduate clinical experience in HIV/STI care and homelessness is preferred, with AHPRA psychologist registration or equivalent social work credentials.

You will contribute to prevention, diagnosis and treatment within SHBBV, working in a diverse team committed to high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Social Work per NSW Health Award or Psychology with AHPRA registration.
• Postgraduate clinical experience in drug and alcohol, mental health or homelessness.
• Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and promote teamwork.

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. SESLHD's Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services (SHBBV) provide leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services. Across these services, care is provided via fixed locations and outreach networks to a client base of approximately 28,000 individuals. SHBBV has highly skilled and diverse staff including nursing, medical, allied health, health promotion, administrative and technical staff. It is the largest SHBBV service in Australia. The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a targeted primary health care facility located in Kings Cross involved in the prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS and other transmissible infections among 'at risk' young people, sex workers, people who inject drugs, people experiencing homelessness, Aboriginal people and LGBTIQ people.

Selection Criteria

• Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award in Social Work (eligible for member of AASW) or Counselling, OR Qualifications in accordance with Health & Community Employees Psychologists (State Award 2023) with current AHPRA registration and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Extensive post graduate clinical experience in drug and alcohol, mental health or homeless health.
• Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels and promote a cohesive team.
• Demonstrated ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide support to other staff.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
