Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) seeks a Senior Counsel, Litigation to manage a diverse docket focused on insured claims, including premises liability and mass tort, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Litigation. This exempt role emphasizes strategic dispute management and collaboration with the Litigation & Regulatory Law team.

The ideal candidate is an Illinois-licensed attorney with 5+ years of litigation experience, capable of overseeing outside counsel and navigating

Qualifications

• Illinois licensed attorney with at least five (5) years’ litigation experience.
• Experience handling complex litigation and disputes, with a focus on insured litigation.
• Familiarity with insurance coverage for claims, including reserving and reporting requirements.
• Outstanding advocacy, presentation, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes.
• Work independently with general supervision and direction from the Assistant General Counsel, Litigation.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks to closure.
• ADM values integrity, respect, excellence, resourcefulness, teamwork and responsibility.
• Ideal candidate will have team-oriented background with experience managing outside counsel and setting strategy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a significant litigation docket of active cases.
• Handle disputes proactively and mitigate risks to achieve the best result for the Company.
• Select and manage outside counsel efficiently while maximizing value and utilizing innovative models to manage legal spend.
• Report on litigation risk and reserves as part of Company’s financial disclosure process.
• Partner within Litigation & Regulatory Law team to share best practices and provide lessons-learned training.
