Job summary

Hatch in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join the Project Delivery Group. You will design discipline work, support feasibility studies, and produce detailed engineering for EPC projects in mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors.

You will apply data‑centric 3D/BIM methods, maintain design criteria, and contribute to capital estimates, schedules and on‑site commissioning.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with demonstrated experience and CPEng status (or the experience necessary to attain this).
• Experience in mining/metals, infrastructure or energy sectors with detailed design for large multi‑discipline projects in a datacentric 3D/BIM environment.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and control standards and ability to ensure design compliance with engineering standards.
• Strong report writing and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
• Experience in Functional Safety and/or ICT systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare discipline design, studies, calculations and documentation for feasibility studies.
• Prepare detailed engineering for procurement and construction of execution phase projects.
• Develop engineering documentation including design criteria, specifications, datasheets, reports and drawings.
• Participate in multi‑discipline reviews and contribute to capital estimates and project schedules.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Prepare discipline design, studies, calculations and documentation to support feasibility studies.
• Prepare detailed engineering for procurement and construction of execution phase projects.
• Develop engineering documentation within the discipline including, but not limited to, design criteria, specifications, datasheets,reports, functional descriptions, lists, calculations and detail drawings.
• Participate in formal multi-discipline engineering review processes and provide input into capital estimates and project schedules.
• Provide on-site construction and commissioning technical support.

You bring to the role:

• A degree in engineering with demonstrated experience and CPEng status (or the experience necessary to attain this)
• Excellent attitude towards safety
• A degree in engineering with demonstrated experience and CPEng status (or the experience necessary to attain this)
• Demonstrated engineering experience in the mining and metals, infrastructure or energy sectors (or similar heavy industries) including the detailed design for large multi-discipline projects delivered in a datacentric 3D/BIM environment
• Current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and study criteria pertinent to instrumentation and control systems engineering ensuring compliance of design work with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients on a technical and interpersonal level, including excellent report writing skills
• Willingness to travel to client sites where necessary.
• Experience in Functional Safety and/or ICT systems would be well regarded.
• Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
