Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join the Project Delivery Group in Perth. The role involves leading discipline design, studies, and documentation for feasibility and execution phases, with on‑site construction support and BIM‑based project delivery.

The candidate should have an engineering degree with CPEng status or equivalent, plus experience in mining/energy sectors, strong safety focus, and good communication skills. Travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with CPEng status or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated safety mindset and commitment to safe work practices.
• Experience in mining, metals, infrastructure or energy sectors with large multi‑discipline projects in a BIM environment.
• Knowledge of standards and criteria for instrumentation and control systems engineering.
• Strong communication and report writing skills for internal and external clients.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
• Experience in Functional Safety or ICT systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare discipline design, studies, calculations and documentation to support feasibility studies.
• Prepare detailed engineering for procurement and construction of execution phase projects.
• Develop engineering documentation within the discipline including design criteria, specifications, datasheets, reports and calculations.
• Participate in formal multi‑discipline engineering reviews and provide input into capital estimates and project schedules.
• Provide on‑site construction and commissioning technical support.

As the Successful Candidate, You Will

• Prepare discipline design, studies, calculations and documentation to support feasibility studies.
• Prepare detailed engineering for procurement and construction of execution phase projects.
• Develop engineering documentation within the discipline including, but not limited to, design criteria, specifications, datasheets, reports, functional descriptions, lists, calculations and detail drawings.
• Participate in formal multi‑discipline engineering review processes and provide input into capital estimates and project schedules.
• Provide on‑site construction and commissioning technical support.

You Bring To The Role

• A degree in engineering with demonstrated experience and CPEng status (or the experience necessary to attain this)
• Excellent attitude towards safety
• A degree in engineering with demonstrated experience and CPEng status (or the experience necessary to attain this)
• Demonstrated engineering experience in the mining and metals, infrastructure or energy sectors (or similar heavy industries) including the detailed design for large multi‑discipline projects delivered in a datacentric 3D/BIM environment
• Current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and study criteria pertinent to instrumentation and control systems engineering ensuring compliance of design work with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients on a technical and interpersonal level, including excellent report writing skills
• Willingness to travel to client sites where necessary.
• Experience in Functional Safety and/or ICT systems would be well regarded.
