Job summary

SIMPEC is seeking a Senior Contract Engineer for an Early Works Project in West Perth. You will manage contractual correspondence, variations, progress claims and commercial tracking to ensure timely project deliverables and compliance with contract terms.

Navigate contract risks, provide guidance to project teams, and negotiate settlements with clients and subcontractors. A Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in a similar role are required to drive successful commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• 7+ years proven experience in a similar contract role or senior commercial position.
• Experience negotiating and managing construction contracts, subcontracts and supplier agreements.
• Demonstrated ability in commercial management including budgeting, cost control and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants and monitor contract performance, variations and claims.
• Provide guidance to Project teams to ensure adherence to contract requirements.
• Prepare, issue, negotiate and settle claims and variations in collaboration with Project/Commercial managers.
• Ensure purchase orders reflect main contract terms and are back-to-back where appropriate.
• Identify and mitigate contract risks to protect project commercial performance.
• Support tendering and scope changes with consideration of contract risks while engaging stakeholders.
