Sententia Consulting Pty Ltd is seeking Internal Audit professionals from consultant through to senior manager level. The role offers permanent options with hybrid work arrangements, based in Canberra or Melbourne, with a flexible mix of office and remote work for government and public sector engagements.

Ideal candidates have accounting or finance backgrounds, with progress toward CA/CPA/CIA/CISA credentials, and strong understanding of controls, risk frameworks and audit methodologies.

At Sententia Consulting, we partner with government organisations to strengthen integrity, manage risk and deliver better outcomes for government and public sector organisations.

Our Firm and Risk-Focused Audit, Assurance and Review service line is growing. We are seeking multiple seeking Internal Audit Consultants who are capable and curious, right through to highly skilled and experienced Internal Auditors, ready for their next role.

We are open to negotiating either immediate or future start dates. You can work out of our Barton Office (Canberra, ACT) or Southbank Office (Melbourne, VIC) - we offer a flexible mix of work-from-home too.

Consultants are our are early-career professionals with 1-2 yr's experience, who work under guidance to deliver defined tasks within client engagements, contributing to analysis, research, project support, and internal initiatives. They take responsibility for their work and demonstrate curiosity, focus and awareness, with a commitment to professionalism, quality, collaboration and learning.

Senior Consultants have 3+ years' experience and bring increasing confidence, independence and consistency to the delivery of their work. They have developed technical audit capability that enables them to independently own deliverables or smaller workstreams. They apply sound judgment, solve problems, maintain a strong focus on quality and are active contributors.

Managers have 5+ years' experience and are capable leading client engagements and teams and deliver outcomes that align with scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards. They are skilled identifyingclient needs, structuring work approaches, critical thinkers, and confidently develop options or recommendations. Managers are comfortable developing and mentoring junior staff and contribute and drive internal business initiatives.

Senior Managers have 8+ years' experience and can deliver high-impact and complex engagements.They bring the recognised technical depth, structure and commercial awareness. As trusted advisors, they confidently engage with stakeholders on all levels. Accomplished in leading large or multiple concurrentengagements, taking accountability for planning, delivery, quality, risk and budget. Beyond client delivery, they develop teams, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the strategic growth and capability of the firm.

About You

You are an internal auditor that has demonstrable experience at the appropriate level, wanting to make an impact in your career as well as the growth of our firm. Government sector practice is highly desirable but not essential. Your experience may also include other types of audits, such as compliance, IT & Cybersecurity, and performance audits.

You can expect to be involved across a range of audit engagements and will positively contribute to planning, fieldwork, analysis, documenting findings and writing reports – ensuring the effective progression and completion of audit tasks to final review and sign off. You will be supported by experienced leaders who value quality thinking and sound judgment.

At the appropriate level, your skills and experience include:

• An under or postgraduate degree - Accounting or Finance desirable. ALL degrees will be considered

• Progress or interest towards certifications like CA, CPA, CIA, CISA desirable

• A understanding of internal controls, risk frameworks and audit methodologies

• Ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• An analytical mindset and excellent time management skills

• Preferably already hold an AGSVA Baseline security clearance (minumum), or must be an Australian Citizen to be able to obtain the required security clearance
