Job summary

HDI Global SE is seeking an experienced Senior Risk Engineer to join HDI Risk Consulting, focusing on construction risk across landmark projects in Australia and New Zealand. The role involves evaluating site hazards, delivering loss prevention consulting, and preparing reports for underwriters, with travel about 50 days per year across Australia and NZ.

The position supports hybrid working arrangements, ideally based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and welcomes applicants nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
• At least five years’ experience in an engineering consulting environment and a minimum of 10 years’ overall industry experience.
• Construction risk engineering experience is preferred.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven technical report-writing and presentation experience for non-technical audiences.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Deliver loss prevention engineering and consultancy services.
• Evaluate construction-site and property hazards and prepare clear, practical risk reports.
• Identify and quantify exposures across industrial properties.
• Assess the adequacy and operational effectiveness of protection systems.
• Partner with senior client stakeholders to develop practical strategies that reduce fire risk.
• Prepare risk information for underwriters ahead of insurance renewals.
• Complete desktop reviews of insurance submissions and risk reports for underwriting purposes.
• Deliver loss prevention seminars that build client awareness and capability.
• Manage risk engineering fees, costs and payments.
