Transport For NSW is seeking a skilled planning professional to join the Complex Development Services team in NSW. You will deliver expert planning assessment and advisory services for major developments and infrastructure, balancing development with transport network performance.

You will assess REZ and other significant projects, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and engaging stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes for sustainable growth across NSW.

Qualifications

  • Experience across statutory planning, transport planning, urban planning, civil engineering, infrastructure delivery or related sectors.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and deliver practical planning advice.
  • Strong relationship building and clear communication with government, industry and community stakeholders.
  • Experience leading teams and managing complex workloads in challenging environments.
  • Development assessment or major infrastructure project experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert planning assessment and advice on major developments and infrastructure projects.
  • Assess Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) projects and provide planning and transport advice for sustainable growth.

In this role, you'll:
  • Work as part of a high-performing team within Transport for NSW's Complex Development Services function, delivering expert planning assessment and advice on major developments, infrastructure projects and complex planning proposals that shape the future of the state.
  • Assess Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) projects and other significant developments, while applying your technical expertise to provide planning, transport and infrastructure advice that supports sustainable growth across NSW.
  • Plan outcomes, broker stakeholder engagement and build collaborative solutions that balance development objectives with the long-term protection and performance of the state's transport network.
  • Work in a complex and high-profile environment, navigate competing priorities, statutory requirements and infrastructure challenges while contributing to projects of significant strategic importance for regional NSW and the state's renewable energy future.

About You
  • You have stakeholder engagement and planning expertise, formed across statutory planning, transport planning, urban planning, civil engineering, infrastructure delivery or related sectors, will see you excel in undertaking complex development assessments and delivering high-quality planning advice on major projects.
  • You bring the technical capability to assess transport and infrastructure impacts, combined with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, influence outcomes and manage competing stakeholder interests to deliver practical and effective solutions.
  • You're skilled at building strong relationships, translating complex technical matters into clear advice and fostering collaboration across government, industry and community stakeholders.
  • You'll have experience leading people, managing complex workloads and driving outcomes in environments where strategic thinking, sound judgement and effective communication are critical to success.
  • Experience in development assessment, integrated land use and transport planning, or major infrastructure and development projects will be highly regarded.
Location

This role can be based from any approved Transport workplace locations across NSW. For more information on approved work location visit NSW Statewide office Locations.

This role may require you to work from remote locations away from your home base to support Transport initiatives or projects.

There is also requirement to:
  • Attend the EnergyCo office on George Street, Sydney, or the shared NSW Government office in Newcastle, a minimum of one day per week
  • Participate in quarterly workshops with EnergyCo, Transport for NSW and the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) to identify opportunities to enhance performance, strengthen collaboration and drive continuous improvement.
