Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience delivering environmental and sustainability outcomes within infrastructure, transport, construction, or major project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, impact assessment processes, regulatory approvals, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to identify and manage environmental risks, provide strategic advice, and resolve complex environmental issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic environmental and sustainability advice to support complex infrastructure projects.
  • Lead environmental impact assessments, compliance activities, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Identify environmental risks and opportunities; develop practical solutions to support delivery and minimise impacts.
  • Review and endorse environmental management plans, assessments and reports.
  • Partner with project teams, contractors, regulators and stakeholders to embed environmental best practice across the asset lifecycle.
  • Drive environmental accountability through coaching, knowledge sharing, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel across NSW with overnight site visits to support project delivery.
  • Participate in in-person team activities such as workshops and training.

In this role, you'll:

  • Provide strategic environmental and sustainability advice to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects and operational initiatives.
  • Lead environmental impact assessments, compliance activities, and sustainability initiatives to achieve regulatory and organisational outcomes.
  • Identify environmental risks and opportunities, developing practical solutions to support project delivery and minimise environmental impacts.
  • Review and endorse environmental management plans, assessments, and reports, providing expert guidance on complex environmental matters.
  • Partner with project teams, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders to embed environmental best practice across the asset lifecycle.
  • Drive a culture of environmental accountability through coaching, knowledge sharing, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Preferred Location/Travel Requirement: Sydney CBD. As part of the Regional Rail Program, this role involves travelling across NSW, with overnight site visits required to support project delivery, build stakeholder relationships, and ensure successful on-site outcomes.
  • The team also comes together in person for activities such as branch all-in days, training sessions, planning workshops and collaborative work.

Demonstrated experience delivering environmental and sustainability outcomes within infrastructure, transport, construction, or major project environments.

Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, impact assessment processes, regulatory approvals, and compliance frameworks.

Proven ability to identify and manage environmental risks, provide strategic advice, and resolve complex environmental issues.

Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Sustainability, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Experience monitoring environmental performance and driving sustainable practices that support organisational and community objectives.
