Job summary

The Department of Health Tasmania is seeking a Physiotherapist to deliver rapid assessment and targeted care in Launceston and surrounds. The role supports acutely and chronically ill clients with complex needs, with episodes of care up to six weeks and strong collaboration with GPs and a wide health network.

Applicants should have a Physiotherapy degree and be registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, plus a current driver’s licence.

The Team

Join an innovative and highly regarded Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) that's transforming how care is delivered in Northern Tasmania. ComRRS is a dynamic and collaborative service built on a shared-care partnership with General Practitioners and community healthcare providers. Led by a Nurse Practitioner, our multidisciplinary team is known for its clinical excellence, responsiveness, and person-centred approach to care. Receiving around 100 referrals each month, the service delivers timely, high-quality care across Launceston and surrounding communities, supporting people with acute and complex health needs to avoid hospitalisation and remain well at home. Working alongside nursing staff, a dedicated Occupational Therapist, GPs and a broad network of healthcare professionals, you'll contribute to a service that makes a real difference when people need it most.

The Role

As the ComRRS Physiotherapist, you'll deliver rapid assessment and intervention for people across Launceston and surrounding communities experiencing acute, chronic and complex health conditions. In this rapid-response role, you'll provide targeted episodes of care of up to six weeks, helping clients maximise independence, support recovery and reduce the risk of further deterioration. This highly autonomous role offers significant clinical variety, with a caseload ranging from acute illness and injury to respiratory conditions, falls prevention, functional decline, palliative care and chronic disease exacerbations. Partnering closely with GPs and a multidisciplinary team, you'll draw on strong clinical judgement, adaptability and collaboration to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. About You

You're a confident and experienced physiotherapist who enjoys working autonomously while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.

You bring strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and a commitment to person-centred care. You're comfortable working with complexity, making independent decisions and building effective relationships with clients, carers, GPs and other healthcare providers to achieve positive outcomes.

You'll ideally bring:

• Extensive generalist physiotherapy experience, preferably within community and/or public health settings
• Experience working with people with acute, chronic and complex health conditions
• Strong risk assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills
• A commitment to supporting people from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds
• Current driver's licence

Details of appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.

• Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$117,272 to $126,182 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.

Allowances

• Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility
