Job summary

Value NSW seeks a Senior Communications Officer to shape how the organisation communicates with employees, stakeholders and the wider community. You’ll provide strategic advice to senior leaders, lead communication planning for major initiatives and develop stakeholder engagement approaches.

Working with subject matter experts, you’ll oversee high‑quality content and activities that support priorities and outcomes, across a diverse portfolio including change and issues management.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, marketing or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering integrated communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for complex projects, programs or organisational initiatives.
  • Experience providing communication advice to senior leaders and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, issues management or reputation management activities.
  • Experience delivering stakeholder engagement programs and community events, preferably within a government environment.

In this role

You'll play a key role in shaping how Value NSW communicates with employees, stakeholders and the wider community.

Working closely with senior leaders and subject matter experts, you'll provide strategic communication advice, lead communication planning for major initiatives, develop stakeholder engagement approaches, and oversee the development of high-quality communication content and activities that support organisational priorities and business outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of strategic communication projects, including organisational change, employee engagement, stakeholder engagement, executive communications and emerging issues. You’ll help influence communication outcomes, build trusted relationships across the organisation and contribute to the way Value NSW tells its story and responds to an evolving environment.

About you

We're looking for someone who can:

  • Develop and deliver strategic communication and stakeholder engagement strategies that support organisational objectives and drive business outcomes.
  • Provide expert communication advice to senior leaders and stakeholders, influence decision-making and support the management of complex, sensitive and emerging issues.
  • Build strong working relationships and influence outcomes across a complex organisational environment.
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging issues, risks and opportunities with sound judgement and practical solutions.
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate communication activities to measure effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, marketing or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering integrated communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for complex projects, programs or organisational initiatives.
  • Experience providing communication advice to senior leaders and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, issues management or reputation management activities.
  • Experience delivering stakeholder engagement programs and community events, preferably within a government environment.
About Us

The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State's land valuation system.

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes but is not limited to:

Making more than 2.7 million residential, rural, commercial and industrial valuations annually, with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement, totalling over $1 billion per annum

Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum - receiving up to 50,000 calls and many more enquiries

Monitoring, assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.

In addition, VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners - including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurer’s Directions as well as more than $84 billion in government asset valuations for financial accounting purposes.
