Job summary

Cue-X, a Canberra-based consultancy, is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect/Engineer to join a government client on a contract starting October 2026 through June 2027, with a possible 12-month extension. The role focuses on designing enterprise cloud platforms using MS Azure and M365, and leading cloud engineering efforts.

Due to the client’s requirements, only Australian citizens will be considered and AGSVA security clearance is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience designing enterprise cloud architectures for Azure and M365.
• Ability to translate requirements into scalable cloud solutions.
• Experience in government or regulated environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365.
• Develop high level solution architectures for cloud-based systems.
• Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers.
• Provide impact analysis of user and stakeholder requirements.
• Ensure solutions adhere to whole-of-government standards.
• Provide technical guidance for design and build of cloud systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with objectives.
• Align architectural decisions with user experience considerations.
• Promote re-use, avoid over-customisation, and support open data access.
• Support platform automation, testing, CI/CD, and deployment.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Cloud Engineers and/or Architects will be required to:

• Develop enterprise level cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365
• Develop high level solution architectures for cloud-based systems
• Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers
• Provide impact analysis of user/stakeholder requirements
• Ensure that the enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards
• Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems
• Liaise with a cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects & testers to produce solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and project objectives
• Liaise with the department's Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations
• Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to target architectures and technology.
• Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation - testing, continuous integration and deployment
• Promote key enterprise architecture principles as applicable to cloud platforms - re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality
• Promote and provide assistance to ensure solutions align with the DTA's Digital Service Standard
• Be strategic, a leader and influencer.
• Undertake additional duties as required.
