Job summary

Queensland Health is seeking a laboratory professional to deliver high-level chemistry and related microbiology/molecular testing within a Core Laboratory. You will provide critical technical advice and exercise independent professional judgement in complex investigations.

This role requires leadership in training and development, contributing to quality and policy improvements, and supporting District Health Service clients.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide complex advice to laboratory staff and District Health Service clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to the laboratory work unit and/or discipline.
• High level knowledge and skill in the performance of chemistry and immunoassay investigations, stat microbiology and molecular testing in a clinical pathology laboratory.
• Significant experience and knowledge in training, education, quality or troubleshooting in a clinical chemistry laboratory.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership ability and contribution to the professional development of others.

Responsibilities

• Daily provision of high-level knowledge and expertise in Chemistry and microbiology within Core Laboratory.
• Daily utilisation of high-level knowledge and clinical skills in exercising independent professional judgement in critical decision making.
• Independently solve complex technical problems regarding equipment, instrumentation, computer related issues and procedures without clinical supervision.
• Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and technical practice within the laboratory work unit.
