Senior Civil Project Engineer – Regional Infrastructure

Job summary

The council in western regional Victoria is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer on a temporary basis to plan, manage and supervise capital works and strategic development projects from scoping through to handover.

You will report to the Manager Engineering and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver roads, bridges and other civil infrastructure, ensuring compliance and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• A recognised degree in Civil Engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Victoria.
• Proven project and contract management experience on roads, bridges and other civil infrastructure across the whole project life cycle.
• Onsite experience managing infrastructure construction, ideally in local government or a state road authority.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment and techniques.
• Experience in scoping, estimating, contract documentation and tendering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

• Scope future projects in line with Council plans and strategies, and prepare engineering reports.
• Review or prepare designs, design briefs, technical specifications and tender documents.
• Supervise internal CAD designs so they meet current standards.
• Run tender evaluations and prepare evaluation reports and recommendations.
• Prepare documents for government grant applications and acquittals.
• Coordinate approvals and permits for civil infrastructure projects.
• Build project schedules, risk registers and contingency plans.
• Manage contracts, budgets, variations and quality plans, and supervise construction.
• Liaise with the community, utilities, statutory authorities and internal teams.
• Carry out post-completion inspections and make sure assets are capitalised correctly.
• Support the Manager Engineering in running the team and the capital works program.
