Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Rockhampton QLD is seeking a Principal Engineer (Civil) to lead delivery of road infrastructure across the district. The role focuses on managing maintenance programs, overseeing contracts, and providing expert advice across design, construction, maintenance and operation of road networks.

You will lead project managers, ensure safe and compliant delivery, and drive value for money while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experienced civil engineer capable of managing road infrastructure projects across design and construction phases.
• Strong knowledge of engineering practice and project management.
• Ability to analyse risk, drive accountability and build productive relationships.

Responsabilités

• Manage routine and programmed maintenance and road rehabilitation programs.
• Oversee contract performance and construction practices for efficiency and best practice.
• Lead projects across the project management lifecycle and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide specialist advice on planning, design options, materials and construction practices.
• Coordinate resources and foster effective teamwork to achieve outcomes.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and manage high-risk and sensitive matters.
