Job summary

Randstad is partnering with a major government infrastructure authority to appoint a Senior Civil Designer (PO6) for a long-term contract in the North Coast Region. You will lead planning and design for large transport projects from strategy through to implementation, reporting to the Principal Advisor (Design).

The role requires at least 5 years using 12D and AutoCAD, a Dublin Accord accredited degree or equivalent, and a current White Card.

Qualifications

• Must have an engineering degree recognised for professional practice (Dublin Accord or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience with 12D and AutoCAD.
• White Card or equivalent construction-industry safety credential.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and design components to deliver transport infrastructure on time and within budget.
• Develop and quantify design models across concept, development and implementation phases.
• Review design drawings and documentation from external consultancies and provide technical input.
• Advise on corridor planning, program development and project finalisation.

About the Role

In this autonomous but highly collaborative role, you will lead key components of the planning and design function to ensure transport infrastructure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Developing and quantifying transport infrastructure design models across all project phases (concept, development, and implementation).




• Utilizing AutoCAD and 12D software to conceptualize, investigate, and analyze optimal design options.




• Ensuring all designs adhere to strict policies, legislative frameworks, quality management procedures, and key governance standards.




• Assisting in the technical review of design drawings and documentation provided by external consultancies.




• Providing expert technical advice on corridor planning, program development, and project finalization.




• Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to navigate challenges and manage expectations.

Mandatory Requirements:

• A minimum two-year, Dublin Accord accredited engineering degree (such as an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering) or recognized equivalent.




• A minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience using 12D and AutoCAD software.




• A current White Card.
