Job summary

Little Chef Indian Restaurant in Belmont, Geelong is seeking a full-time chef/cook with strong professional standards to join our kitchen team. The role requires preparation of ingredients, menu planning input, stock ordering, and ensuring high hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in commercial cookery or equivalent in a related field.
• At least three years of relevant commercial cooking experience.
• Experience maintaining high safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of raw ingredients including meat and vegetables through varied cutting and marinating techniques.
• Inspecting raw ingredients to check for spoilage and assess usability.
• Maintaining skills and knowledge relevant to job duties and preparing items on restaurant menu.
• Plan, collect, estimating food and commodities for menus.
• Prioritize menus, recipes and task sheets.
• Monitoring dish quality at all stages of cooking and preparation.
• Adjusting recipes to fit dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian).
• Utilizing kitchen utensils, appliances, and cookware to prepare ingredients and meals.
• Monitoring and regulating heat and cold sources to ensure food quality.
• Serving and portioning foods and adding garnishes to ensure presentation.
• Preparing and flavouring sauces and gravies as required by the recipe.
• Following safety and hygiene regulations around food handling, storage and preparation.
• Ensuring cleanliness of work stations and kitchen area and abiding by OH&S procedures.
