Job summary

Western Power in Perth CBD is seeking a Category Manager to lead the Construction, Services and Facilities Management portfolio, shaping commercial strategy, overseeing contract creation and management, and driving safety, service, quality and cost improvements across a complex contract portfolio.

You will build high-performing teams, develop procurement strategies, manage end-to-end sourcing, and foster strong supplier partnerships to deliver value.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership capabilities, underpinned by a collaborative, values-driven approach and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven experience developing and delivering complex procurement, category and contracting strategies that drive commercial value and business outcomes.
• A strong track record in building and managing strategic supplier relationships that deliver value beyond contractual obligations.
• Well-developed analytical, financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to assess pricing models, identify opportunities and support informed decision-making.
• Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, with experience leading high-value commercial discussions and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Sound understanding of procurement risk, governance and compliance frameworks, with the ability to balance commercial outcomes with effective risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team across commercial, category management, sourcing, contract management and contract administration, fostering capability, succession planning and continuous improvement.
• Coach, mentor and empower team members to achieve their full potential, driving strong performance, engagement and professional growth.
• Develop and execute procurement and category strategies that deliver commercial value, optimise supplier performance and support Western Power's strategic objectives.
• Oversee end-to-end sourcing and contract establishment activities, including market engagement, tender management, commercial evaluations, negotiations and contract award.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships, proactively managing performance, risk, pricing and innovation to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
• Drive cost optimisation, operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives while identifying opportunities to enhance business performance and value.
• Ensure robust contract governance, compliance and assurance across the portfolio, including expenditure management and adherence to Western Power's Contract Lifecycle Management Framework and procurement policies.
• Partner with key stakeholders across the business to align procurement priorities, support demand planning, maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with safety, risk and regulatory requirements.
