Job summary

Catherine House is seeking a Senior Case Worker for the Mental Health Programs to lead case management and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. You will oversee client referrals, supervise a team of Community Service Workers, and drive service quality and safety aligned to policy and legislation.

You will support clients navigating the NDIS/NDIS portal access, uphold child-safe and anti-discrimination commitments, and participate in continuous improvement while modelling strong values.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in community or health services.
  • Extensive knowledge of homelessness and community housing sector.
  • Experience in a senior role with staff supervision.
  • Extensive experience in assessing mental health, AOD and domestic violence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high-quality case work service to a mix of clients in the MHP.
  • Oversee and direct case management of all clients and referrals.
  • Direct line management of a team of part-time Community Service Workers.
  • Supervise staff in the absence of the Team Leader Mental Health Programs.
  • Oversee program data management to meet performance targets and KPIs.
  • Model professional conduct and lead with values in supporting staff.
  • Support clients to navigate the NDIS and access the NDS portal.
  • Contribute to a safe, non-discriminatory workplace and WHS compliance.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement processes.

About the role

Senior Case Worker in the Mental Health Programs will work collaboratively with team members to deliver a high-quality service, which is consistent with program goals and provides a safe and positive environment for clients and oversee and provide direction for the case management of all clients and referrals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide a high-quality case work service to a mix of clients in the MHP
  • Oversee and provide direction for the case management of all clients and referrals where appropriate
  • Direct line manager of a team of part-time Community Service Workers
  • Supervise other staff in the absence of the TLMHP
  • In collaboration with the TLMHP, oversee program data management to meet service agreement performance targets, KPIs and any other agreed organisation targets/measures
  • Model appropriate conduct, values and behaviour in your support of staff
  • Provide positive leadership qualities at all times
  • Support clients to navigate the NDIS and where relevant learn to access the NDS portal
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment, free from discrimination and harassment by working in accordance with legislative requirements, the Code of Conduct, NDIS Code of Conduct, organisational policies and WHS requirements as outlined below.
  • Ensure clients are respected and treated in a non-judgemental way
  • Participate in the organisation’s process of continuous quality improvement
You will have:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in community or health services
  • Extensive knowledge of the homelessness and community housing sector
  • Experience working in a senior role
  • Experience in staff support and supervision
  • Extensive experience in assessing mental health, AOD, and domestic violence
  • Client crisis management, de-escalation of incidents and management of client behavioural and support issues
  • Experience working with women with trauma backgrounds as a result of childhood or adult experiences of neglect or abuse
  • A sound knowledge of mental health issues/diagnoses
  • Knowledge of working with women in crisis, experiencing low motivation and disengagement
  • Domestic and family violence risk assessment, referral and safety protocolsUnderstanding of the impact of childhood and adult trauma on client’s functioning, wellbeing and motivation
