Sandy Evans Recruitment is seeking a skilled carpenter supervisor for council housing maintenance in Cairns. The role focuses on planning and project management of carpentry works, including housing and business premises, with an emphasis on Aboriginal community interaction and procurement oversight.

The ideal candidate holds a Certificate III in Carpentry and a Building Supervisor Licence (desirable), with a current Driver's license and White Card.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Carpentry and Building Supervisor Licence are desirable.
• Current Driver's license and White Card.
• Experience communicating with Aboriginal people and knowledge of Australian Indigenous culture.
• Housing maintenance and general domestic/commercial construction experience.
• Proven ability to supervise and lead an operational team.
• Understanding procurement documents, ordering supplies and monitoring budgets; preparing estimates/reports.
• Sound computer skills and ability to use project management software and MentorAPM.

Responsibilities

• Carpentry maintenance works for Council housing and premises.
• Plan and manage carpentry projects as assigned by Building Services Manager.
• Supervise and lead an operational team.
• Understand procurement documents and monitor budgets; prepare estimates and reports.
• Utilise Microsoft Office and project management software including MentorAPM.
