Job summary

Job2Go Pty Ltd in Cairns, Far North Queensland, is seeking a qualified Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis. You will interpret plans, measure and cut timber, fabricate joinery, and install structures across residential and commercial projects.

The role requires AQF Certificate III or IV (or 3+ years of experience), White Card, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll work with a range of materials and maintain safety on site. Salary is 70,000–80,000 AUD plus superannuation.

Qualifications

• At least two years relevant work experience.
• White Card required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position: Carpenter

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Cairns QLD 4870

Our client is seeking a Carpenter to join their team located in Cairns, Far North Queensland.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interpret construction plans, technical drawings and project specifications to determine job requirements, measurements, materials and installation methods.
• Select, order and organise timber, hardware and other construction materials required for residential and commercial building projects.
• Measure, mark and cut timber and other building materials using hand and power tools, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Construct, assemble and install structural frameworks, wall frames, roof trusses, flooring systems and other building components.
• Install subfloors, floorboards, external cladding, fascia boards, doors, windows and associated fixtures to complete building structures.
• Fabricate and fit custom joinery, timber fittings and prefabricated components for on-site installation.
• Produce and install timber joints, ensuring structural integrity, stability and quality workmanship.
• Inspect completed work to ensure structures are correctly aligned, level and compliant with building requirements.
• Build and dismantle formwork for concrete pours where required as part of construction activities.
• Perform maintenance, repair and replacement of damaged or worn timber structures, fixtures and fittings.
• Work with a range of construction materials including timber, laminated products, composite materials, plastics and light metal components.
• Maintain a safe and organised work environment and comply with workplace health and safety requirements at all times.

Requirements:

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) or at least three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
• At least two (2) years relevant work experience
• White Card
• Valid driver's licence.
