Job summary

Airservices Australia is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join the Technology Service Delivery team in a 24-month fixed-term full-time capacity. The role sits across Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne locations and focuses on turning complex business needs into supplier-ready requirements.

You will drive end-to-end requirements management, ensure traceability, and enable procurement decisions through rigorous analysis, governance, and modern ways of working in a safety-critical aviation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required or highly preferred.
• CBAP and/or PMI-PBA credentials are desirable for the role.
• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end requirements management across large programs.
• Ability to translate complex concepts into supplier-ready procurement documentation.
• Experience operating in regulated environments with governance and assurance.

Summary

Airservices Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Technology Service Delivery team.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will do more than gather requirements. You will provide single-point accountability for the requirements baseline across complex strategic and technology initiatives, ensuring business needs are translated into clear, traceable and delivery-ready outcomes. You will work across operational stakeholders, technical teams, suppliers and senior leaders to accelerate delivery, reduce ambiguity and support evidence-based investment and procurement decisions.

The Role & The Team

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst who bridges the gap between operational users, engineering specialists, suppliers and technical delivery teams. You combine systems-thinking rigour with commercial pragmatism, enabling complex programs to move at pace without compromising quality, safety or governance.

Success in this role will be underpinned by:

You are known for turning ambiguous business and operational needs into clear, supplier-ready specifications, taking ownership from day one and proactively identifying and resolving gaps before they become delivery risks. Rather than waiting to be asked, you move ahead of the process, closing assumptions, dependencies and requirements issues before they become blockers.

You will bring demonstrated experience in:

• Owning end-to-end requirements management across large-scale capability, transformation or technology programs, from business case through procurement, delivery, verification and acceptance.
• Establishing and maintaining complete requirements traceability, ensuring every requirement has a clear source, rationale and verification method.
• Translating complex operational, engineering and technical concepts into practical, supplier-ready procurement and delivery documentation.
• Applying systems engineering and requirements management disciplines, including IEEE 1362 and ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148, to develop operational concepts, user requirements, functional baselines and interface specifications.
• Working across the full systems lifecycle and V-model, including ConOps, User Requirements Specifications (URS), Functional and Performance Specifications (FPS), High Level Design (HLD), verification and acceptance activities.
• Bridging gaps between user requirements, technical design and supplier responses to ensure procurement outcomes are fit-for-purpose and minimise rework.
• Building current-state and future-state capability baselines that provide stakeholders and suppliers with confidence in solution design and implementation approaches.
• Facilitating workshops and engagement activities that rapidly extract business knowledge, align stakeholders and resolve uncertainty.
• Developing trusted relationships across operational, safety, cyber security, architecture, service delivery and supplier organisations.
• Working with sensitive operational, safety and procurement information in highly regulated environments.

A relevant bachelor’s degree and CBAP and/or PMI-PBA credentials are desirable, as is experience with frameworks such as Six Sigma, Lean, PMBOK, PRINCE2, P3M3, Prosci, ITIL and BABOK.
