Job summary

Airservices Australia is seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist to provide technical leadership and systems engineering across delivery, integration, and operational sustainment of critical ATM technology.

You will lead governance, manage risks, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while guiding cross-functional teams through lifecycle activities and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an Australian tertiary institution or certified equivalent (for overseas qualifications)
• Significant experience in systems engineering, software-intensive systems, or complex operational technology environments
• Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance activities
• Experience managing technical risk, change control, and configuration management activities
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to influence outcomes and provide trusted technical advice across multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to safety, quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement

The Role & The Team

The Tower Technology Services team within CTEO is responsible for the ongoing management, maintenance, and sustainment of critical technology systems that support Australia's National Airways System (NAS). Our systems are deployed across airports and aerodromes nationwide and play a vital role in the delivery of air traffic services.

As part of the Tower Technology Replacement Program, we are delivering the next generation of Air Traffic Management Systems that provide Air Traffic Controllers with real-time operational information to support safe and effective aircraft movements. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help modernise the technology that underpins Australia's aviation network.

The Person

In the immediate term, you will play a key role in the successful delivery, integration, acceptance, and operational readiness of new Air Traffic Management capabilities. Following deployment, you will become a trusted technical authority responsible for the sustainment, support, and continuous improvement of operational systems that directly support air traffic control services.

This role offers a unique combination of project delivery, systems engineering, operational support, and stakeholder engagement, providing the opportunity to influence technology outcomes that have a direct impact on aviation safety and operational performance across Australia.

What You’ll Be Doing
