Job summary

Fairway Village is a Perth-based developer creating lifestyle villages and residential communities. As the sole draftsperson, you'll own the design and documentation process from site analysis to approval, with opportunities to lead a small drafting team in the future.

Proficiency in ArchiCAD or Revit is essential, along with a solid grasp of WA R-Codes, LDPs and NCC requirements. You will prepare DA packages and liaise with councils to ensure compliant, construction-ready drawings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a senior draftsperson/building designer in WA residential
• Proficient in ArchiCAD or Revit and 3D modelling
• Strong knowledge of WA R-Codes, LDPs and local planning frameworks
• Ability to prepare and submit DAs and liaise with councils
• Self-driven and able to work independently as the sole draftsperson

Senior Building Designer/Draftsperson (ArchiCAD or Revit)

As the sole draftsperson, you'll own the design and documentation process from site analysis and early concept through to approval. Some projects offer the chance to create new single and two-storey designs from scratch, while others involve developing existing concepts into full sets of working drawings. As the business expands, there's genuine potential for you to grow a small drafting team around you.

Key responsibilities

• Producing 3D models, plans and elevations in ArchiCAD or Revit, including elevations drawn from scratch
• Designing single and two-storey homes
• Developing concept designs into complete, construction-ready working drawings
• Overlaying house plans onto the master subdivision plan and checking them against lot boundaries, easements, levels and LDP requirements
• Reviewing site surveys and identifying issues such as retaining, level changes, driveway locations, crossovers and setbacks
• Contacting councils and planners to confirm R-Code density, zoning and site requirements
• Applying the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes), Local Development Plans and local planning requirements to every design
• Writing clear design justifications where a proposal doesn't meet the deemed-to-comply provisions of the R-Codes or relevant design principles
• Ensuring designs meet NCC requirements, including energy efficiency, Bushfire Attack Level (BAL), acoustic requirements and Livable Housing (Silver level)
• Preparing and lodging Development Application (DA) packages with council, and managing them through to approval

About you

• Proven experience as a senior draftsperson, building designer or architectural technician in WA residential
• Highly proficient in ArchiCAD or Revit, including 3D modelling
• Strong working knowledge of the WA R-Codes, LDPs and local planning frameworks
• Confident writing design principle justifications for variations
• Solid understanding of the NCC, including energy efficiency, BAL, acoustic and livable housing requirements
• Experience reading site surveys and resolving site constraints such as levels, retaining and access
• Experience preparing and submitting DAs, and comfortable dealing directly with councils and planners
• Organised and self-driven, comfortable working independently as the only draftsperson in the business
• Clear communicator who enjoys a hands-on role in a small, close-knit team
