Job summary

Job description

You will carry a portfolio of clients from bank feed to year-end file. Half the job is production: the complex reconciliations, the payroll, the quarterly BAS packs. The other half is review, checking the work of bookkeepers and trainees before it reaches a client or the ATO, and showing them how it is done here rather than quietly fixing it behind them. Several of our clients run groups of related entities, so you will be across inter-entity loans, transactions between entities and keeping every entity's books straight. You are the day-to-day contact for those clients.

Key responsibilities

• Bank feeds and coding daily, with anything you cannot code chased down rather than parked in suspense
• Payroll: timesheets, payslips, STP on or before the pay date, super recorded
• Month-end reconciliations and the control accounts: GST, PAYG withholding, super payable, wages clearing, inter-entity loans and fixed assets
• Quarterly BAS packs on our house method, and monthly reporting with plain-English commentary
• EOFY: STP finalisation, TPAR, workers compensation wages declarations and the year-end file for the client's accountant
• Review files and coach juniors

About you

• You have carried a client portfolio in a practice, or held a senior in-house role with the same depth
• You have worked across multi-entity groups and is confident with inter-entity accounts
• Xero and Xero Payroll are second nature, and you can pick up a MYOB or Reckon file without fuss
• You can prepare BAS and IAS, and reconcile GST and PAYG control accounts
• You know Australian payroll: STP, super guarantee, leave and awards
• You can tell when a file is wrong, and you chase it instead of coding it away
• Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, or the experience to match
• Current National Police Check and Tax Practitioners Board check confirming you are not disqualified

$76,000 to $85,000 plus super, based on experience
