Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal BESS Engineer to lead technical and commercial advisory engagements for utility-scale battery energy storage systems across development, procurement, contracting, delivery and operation. You will ensure robust, bankable specifications and rigorous bid evaluations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in the energy sector with utility-scale BESS experience.
• Experience across development, procurement, delivery or operation.
• Ability to translate technical understanding into bankable requirements and bid comparisons.

Responsibilities

• Lead BESS Owner's Engineer and technical advisory engagements from feasibility to operation.
• Establish sizing and performance base using dispatch, grid, climate and lifecycle objectives.
• Prepare and review Principal's requirements, technical schedules and guarantees.
• Lead tender evaluations and normalise competing offers by reviewing assumptions and design margins.
• Support contract negotiations on performance guarantees, tests, warranties and remedies.
• Review BESS architecture and interfaces across cells, modules, racks, and BESS control systems.
