Job summary

Qantas Airways is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to architect, design and deliver scalable backend systems at the Adelaide Product Innovation Centre. You’ll guide architecture, mentor teams, and contribute hands-on development to ensure reliability, security, and performance.

The role requires 6+ years in software engineering with strong Java/Spring Boot and microservices experience, plus cloud, CI/CD and observability know-how.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in hands-on Software Engineering.
• Experience leading architecture and design of backend systems.
• Proficiency in API development and microservices.
• Strong background with Java, Spring Boot and related tech.
• Experience with databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Guide architecture, delivery and development of backend software.
• Take hands-on role delivering high-quality, scalable systems.
• Ensure reliability, performance and security/data privacy compliance.
• Lead and mentor team on architecture and coding standards.
