Job summary

G8 Education is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure powering data-driven decisions across the organisation. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to transform raw data into meaningful insights.

This hands‑on role welcomes Senior Data Engineers and offers flexibility for a senior appointment. The position includes hybrid work with 3 days in the office and 2 from home, based at the Gold Coast

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI is desirable.
• Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.

• Build and optimise data models to support analytics and business reporting
• Integrate data from multiple sources and formats, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across pipelines and systems
• Implement monitoring, alerting, backups, upgrades and ongoing maintenance processes
• Partner with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to deliver fit‑for‑purpose data solutions
• Develop and maintain Power BI reporting solutions to support business insights
• Document engineering processes, standards and best practices
• Provide guidance and support to team members where required
• Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, contributing ideas to improve platforms and ways of working

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power data-driven decision making across our organisation.

In this role, you’ll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure our data systems are reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose, transforming raw data into meaningful insights.

This is a hands‑on technical role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, optimising performance, and continuously improving data platforms. While this opportunity is advertised as a Data Engineer, we encourage experienced Senior Data Engineers to apply, with flexibility to appoint at a senior level for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You’re a collaborative problem-solver with strong technical foundations and a passion for data. You thrive in environments where quality, reliability and continuous improvement matter.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or SQL.
