Paxus is seeking a Senior Backend API Developer to design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade backend services and consumer APIs. Qualifications

About the Role

As a Senior Backend API Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade backend services and consumer APIs that underpin various web applications, portals, and mobile platforms. Working as part of a diverse delivery team, you will craft secure, scalable services utilising modern frameworks such as Golang and GraphQL, with deployments to Kubernetes and AWS EKS environments. Your role will involve close collaboration with frontend teams, Salesforce developers, MuleSoft integration specialists, and solution architects to deliver seamless digital ecosystems. A key part of your responsibilities includes utilising AI-assisted tools to accelerate development cycles, improve testing and documentation, and troubleshoot while maintaining high standards for security, quality, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain secure backend services and APIs using Golang, GraphQL, and modern framework practices.
• Develop and support cloud-native applications in Kubernetes and AWS EKS environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated digital solutions, ensuring secure authentication and seamless service interactions.
• Employ AI-assisted development tools to enhance efficiency in implementation, testing, and troubleshooting while ensuring technical quality.
• Contribute to platform reliability, security, operational excellence, including supporting Cloudflare Zero Trust and secure connectivity.
• Review, validate, and improve AI-generated code, maintaining a strong understanding of underlying engineering principles.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience developing secure, scalable backend APIs using Golang within enterprise or large-scale digital environments.
• Strong knowledge of API design and integration patterns, including GraphQL, authentication, authorization, API lifecycle management, and service-to-service communication.
• Demonstrated experience building and operating cloud-native applications on Kubernetes and AWS (including Amazon EKS).
• Hands-on experience with source control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and delivering integrated end-to-end digital solutions.
• Effective utilisation of AI-assisted software engineering tools for development, debugging, testing, documentation, and delivery, complemented by a deep understanding of engineering principles.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience supporting Cloudflare security technologies such as Zero Trust, Tunnels, and Edge Security.
• Background in designing consumer-facing API platforms for web, portal, or mobile applications.
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, MuleSoft, or comparable integration architectures.
• Experience within government or highly regulated technology environments.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in backend development, API design, and cloud-native architectures in a senior capacity.

Other Requirements

• Ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance.
• 12 months contraqct with another 12 months extension option.
• Open to QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA, TAS
• Australian citizenship is mandatory
• Flexible hybrid working arrangements subject to policies, with a minimum of two days in the office per week.
