Your Role And Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Engineer to join our team on an urgent basis. The successful candidate will play a key hands-on role in designing, building, implementing and operating Azure infrastructure across a complex, security-focused enterprise environment. Working closely with our Senior Azure Architect and broader engineering team, the engineer will translate approved architecture and technical designs into robust, secure and production-ready solutions. This is a delivery-focused engineering role, with a strong emphasis on implementation, automation, infrastructure modernisation and continuous improvement.

Responsibility

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Bicep, ARM templates to automate and standardise Azure infrastructure deployment.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate infrastructure and application deployments.
• Implement Azure networking solutions including Load Balancers, VNets, NSGs, route tables, VNet peering, Azure Firewall, AMPLS, NAT Gateway, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute and Hub-Spoke network architectures.
• Implement Azure Integration Services including Event Hubs, Logic Apps and Azure Functions, including configuration, integration and deployment.
• Build and configure Azure monitoring capabilities including Log Analytics workspaces, Azure Monitor, diagnostic settings and logging across the Azure estate.
• Implement security controls and hardening aligned to ISM, Essential Eight maturity requirements and WDAC policies across Azure infrastructure and workloads.
• Implement Customer Managed Key solutions and execute migration of workloads from Platform Managed Keys to CMK.
• Deploy and configure Azure Virtual Desktop environments, including host pools, FSLogix, image management, configuration and security hardening aligned to ISM and Essential Eight requirements.
• Design, build and implement SAP on Azure infrastructure capabilities, including the infrastructure layer supporting SAP ETD.
• Design, re-architect and implement Azure Backup capabilities to deliver the required resilience, recovery and operational outcomes.
• Implement and configure Veeam or equivalent third-party backup solutions within Azure, alongside native Azure Backup services and Recovery Services vaults.
• Implement and execute Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions, including failover procedures, recovery runbooks and DR testing.
• Implement and manage identity and access controls using Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access and Privileged Identity Management.
• Participate in technical implementation, security reviews, architecture governance and change management activities to ensure solutions are delivered in accordance with enterprise standards.
• Develop and maintain technical and operational documentation, including implementation records, as-built documentation, configuration standards and runbooks.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Cloud Native Development Principles:
• Experience with cloud native development principles, containers, and serverless computing fundamentals to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.
• API and Microservices Architecture: Experience in implementing API and Microservices-based architecture using Node.js, Spring boot, Spring Cloud, or Netflix OSS technologies to design and develop omnichannel systems of engagement.
• Azure Services Expertise:
• Experience working with Azure services, understanding their advantages and disadvantages, and ability to map existing components/functionalities to Azure-specific services for seamless cloud transition.
• Software Architecture Fundamentals:
• Experience with software architecture fundamentals to define and implement architecture for omnichannel systems of engagement, aligning with Azure-specific services.
• Technical Leadership in Azure:
• Experience in providing technical leadership and guidance on Azure services to inform project delivery and solutioning.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Good Understanding of Angular.js: A good understanding of Angular.js, scripting technologies like JavaScript and CSS is beneficial for this role.
• Scripting Technologies Knowledge: Familiarity with scripting technologies like JavaScript and CSS is a plus.
