Job summary

Emmbr is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to transform a large Azure environment and establish a mature platform engineering capability. You will design secure, reusable Azure patterns, landing zones and CI/CD processes, guiding governance and security across complex services.

In this hands-on role, you will own engineering outcomes, work across security, networking and DevOps teams, and drive Terraform-based automation to deliver scalable cloud platforms that balance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering experience.
• Deep Terraform capability for IaC development and troubleshooting.
• Recent experience in senior Cloud/Platform Engineering roles with technical ownership.
• Strong track record building Azure landing zones across IaaS, PaaS, security, governance and CI/CD.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and Microsoft Intune in enterprise settings.
• Ability to communicate complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Design and maintain Azure landing zones, IaaS and PaaS services, governance controls and deployment standards.

About the job

We're looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to help transform cloud services across a large, complex organisation. You'll play a key role in establishing a mature platform engineering capability, driving Azure modernisation, strengthening security and governance, and improving platform performance through secure, reusable Azure patterns.

This role calls for more than technical expertise. You'll bring the judgement, confidence and problem solving ability to challenge existing approaches, troubleshoot complex issues and take ownership of engineering outcomes. • Build, deploy and continuously improve secure, reusable Azure platform patterns using Terraform.
• Design and maintain Azure landing zones, IaaS and PaaS services, governance controls and deployment standards.
• Review and challenge externally developed solutions, resolving versioning, security, build and integration issues.
• Help establish a platform engineering model that provides application teams with secure, governed self-service capabilities.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code practices, automation and cloud operational processes.
• Take technical ownership of complex troubleshooting, platform incidents and improvements, collaborating with application, cyber, networking and infrastructure teams.

About you

• Extensive technology/infrastructure experience with at least five years of strong, hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering.
• Substantial production Terraform experience, including independently developing, modifying and troubleshooting Infrastructure as Code. Deep Terraform capability is essential.
• Recent experience within senior Cloud Engineering, Azure Engineering or Platform Engineering positions, with demonstrated technical ownership.
• Strong experience building Azure landing zones and working across IaaS, PaaS, security, governance and CI/CD in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and Microsoft Intune within enterprise environments.
• A confident, practical problem solver who can clearly explain technical decisions, challenge existing approaches and engage effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to move beyond simply maintaining cloud infrastructure and help shape how an organisation consumes Azure going forward. This is a genuinely hands-on engineering position, not a purely architectural or advisory role. You'll need to be comfortable balancing platform transformation with operational responsibilities.
