Job summary

Ethos BeathChapman seeks an experienced Senior Azure Architect to lead architecture in a large, enterprise cloud environment while staying closely involved in delivery. You will design secure, scalable Azure solutions and work with engineering teams to move designs through implementation.

This role focuses on Azure infrastructure, networking, security, governance, migration and automation, with a strong emphasis on hands-on engineering and practical architecture guidance.

Qualifications

• Experience as Azure/Cloud Architect in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on Azure engineering with implementation involvement.
• Strong Terraform and/or Bicep IaC experience.
• Experience designing Landing Zones and enterprise cloud architectures.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end Azure architectures with high/low level designs.
• Develop Landing Zones aligned with CAF and Well-Architected Framework.
• Architect Azure infrastructure and networking across VNets, ExpressRoute, etc.
• Provide hands-on input using Terraform and Bicep.
• Define security, identity, governance, monitoring and operational controls.
• Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineers and other architects to ensure practicality.

The role

• We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Architect to join a large and complex enterprise environment, providing architecture leadership while remaining actively involved in technical delivery.
• This role is suited to an architect who has retained strong engineering capability.
• You will be responsible for designing secure, scalable and resilient Azure solutions while working closely with engineering teams to take solutions from architecture and design through to implementation
• You will work across Azure infrastructure, networking, security, governance, migration and automation, supporting both modern cloud platforms and existing technology environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design end-to-end Azure architecture and produce high-quality solution designs, HLDs and LLDs.
• Design and evolve enterprise Azure Landing Zones aligned with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework principles.
• Architect Azure infrastructure and networking across VNets, Hub-and-Spoke, Azure Firewall, NSGs, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute/VPN, DNS and hybrid connectivity.
• Provide hands-on technical input across Azure engineering, Infrastructure as Code and automation using technologies such as Terraform and Bicep.
• Design appropriate Azure security, identity, governance, monitoring and operational controls.
• Support cloud migration and modernisation initiatives across existing and legacy technology environments.
• Work closely with engineers, security specialists, application teams and other architects to ensure solutions are practical and implementable.
• Provide technical leadership throughout delivery, including troubleshooting complex issues and providing engineering guidance.

About you

• We are particularly interested in candidates who havesubstantial experience working specifically as an Azure or Cloud Architect, rather than purely senior engineering experience.
• Strong commercial experience as an Azure Solutions, Cloud or Infrastructure Architect.
• Deep hands-on Azure engineering experience and the ability to remain technically involved in implementation.
• Strong Azure Landing Zone and enterprise cloud architecture experience.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code capability, ideally Terraform and/or Bicep.
• Strong Azure networking and hybrid connectivity experience.
• Experience across Azure security, identity, governance and operational resilience.
• Demonstrated experience architecting cloud migrations and modernisation initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into pragmatic architecture.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications will be highly regarded.
