Job summary

Calleo is seeking an Azure Cloud Automation Engineer to design, automate, and support Azure cloud platforms critical to nationwide operations. You will shape hybrid cloud and on-prem environments, focusing on security, scalability, and resilience within a federal government context.

Join a skilled infrastructure team in Canberra to advance cloud maturity, governance, and automated deployment pipelines, with on-going incident support and documentation duties.

Qualifications

• NV1 security clearance required prior to commencement.
• Extensive experience designing, implementing and supporting Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines in Azure.
• Solid knowledge of virtualization, storage, and hybrid architectures.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across infrastructure, security, architecture and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure and platform services using IaC.
• Develop and enhance cloud automation with Azure Bicep, ARM Templates, Terraform, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure DevOps.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and lifecycle management of cloud services.
• Monitor and optimise Azure environments for security, performance, availability and cost.
• Collaborate with technical stakeholders across teams to drive improvements.
• Support governance, identity management, resilience, backup and recovery capabilities.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Participate in incident management and on-call support.

About the Role

As an Azure Cloud Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and supporting Azure cloud services and platforms. You will work closely with infrastructure, cyber security, architecture, and development teams to deliver modern cloud capabilities and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale enterprise environments while helping drive cloud maturity, automation, governance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure and platform services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Develop and enhance cloud automation capabilities using Azure Bicep, ARM Templates, Terraform, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure DevOps.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines to enable automated deployment and lifecycle management of cloud services.
• Monitor, optimise, and maintain Azure environments to ensure security, performance, availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with technical stakeholders across infrastructure, security, architecture, and application delivery teams.
• Support cloud governance, compliance, identity management, resilience, backup, and recovery capabilities.
• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Participate in incident management, service restoration activities, and on-call support arrangements.
• Contribute to cloud and infrastructure improvement initiatives across hybrid environments.

• Experience managing infrastructure security, patch management, and risk management processes.
• Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and effectively collaborate across technical and business teams.
• Experience deploying, testing, and maintaining large-scale ICT environments.

Security Clearance Requirement

Candidates must hold an active Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance prior to commencement.
