Job summary

Compas seeks a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to support a major Australian Government digital transformation. You will work with Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, automation, and CI/CD to deliver secure, high-performing cloud services with a focus on resilience and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include cluster upgrades, automation of deployments, and security controls across IAM, RBAC and WAF, while monitoring health and resolving incidents to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure engineering and operational support experience.
• Strong Amazon EKS and Kubernetes expertise, including cluster administration and upgrades.
• Demonstrated infrastructure automation experience and CI/CD delivery using Azure DevOps, ArgoCD or similar tools.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, incident management and root cause analysis; Terraform/CloudFormation and GitOps desirable.

• Manage and optimise AWS cloud infrastructure and EKS/Kubernetes environments, including cluster upgrades, patching and availability.
• Develop infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines to support secure, reliable deployments.
• Implement AWS security controls and governance across IAM, RBAC, WAF, secrets management and remediation.
• Monitor platform health with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch or Dynatrace and drive incident resolution.

Support and enhance a business-critical AWS cloud platform within a major Australian Government digital transformation initiative. Work with Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation and CI/CD technologies to deliver secure, reliable and high-performing cloud services, with a focus on platform resilience, security and continuous improvement.

Essential Tasks

• Manage and optimise AWS cloud infrastructure and Amazon EKS/Kubernetes environments, including cluster upgrades, patching, performance and availability.
• Develop infrastructure automation and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and ArgoCD to support secure, reliable application deployments.
• Implement AWS security controls, including IAM, IRSA, RBAC, WAF, secrets management and vulnerability remediation.
• Monitor platform health using Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch or Dynatrace, resolving production incidents and improving operational resilience.

Key Criteria

• Minimum 3 years' hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure engineering and operational support experience, ideally within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong Amazon EKS and Kubernetes expertise, including cluster administration, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching and performance optimisation.
• Demonstrated infrastructure automation experience, AWS security knowledge and CI/CD delivery using Azure DevOps, ArgoCD or comparable technologies.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, incident management and root cause analysis. Terraform, CloudFormation, GitOps and relevant AWS/Kubernetes certifications are desirable.
