Job summary

Pinaka is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to lead infrastructure for government-grade platforms. You will oversee AWS operations, manage EKS/Kubernetes environments, and drive automation and secure deployment pipelines in a hybrid, Australia-wide setting.

The role requires security clearance readiness and collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will design scalable, resilient cloud solutions, implement CI/CD with Azure DevOps and ArgoCD, and optimize costs while maintaining governance

Qualifications

• Minimum three years hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong expertise with Amazon EKS and Kubernetes administration.
• Experience building infrastructure automation and secure CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of AWS security controls (IAM, WAF, secrets management) and vulnerability management.
• Proven ability to monitor, log and observe cloud platforms (Prometheus, CloudWatch, Dynatrace).
• Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation and GitOps practices.
• Experience in Australian Government/regulatory environments preferred.
• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps or CK A are a plus.

Job Details

Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure operations, ensuring the on-going performance, availability, security and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Amazon EKS and Kubernetes environments, including cluster upgrades, node group management, patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Develop and implement infrastructure automation to streamline operational processes, reduce manual intervention and improve platform efficiency, including automated patching and backups
• Monitor and optimise platform performance, capacity, scalability and resource utilisation, identifying opportunities to improve resilience and manage AWS infrastructure costs.
• Maintain and enhance monitoring, logging and observability capabilities using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Amazon CloudWatch and Dynatrace
• Implement and maintain AWS security controls, including Web Application Firewall (WAF), IAM, IRSA, RBAC and secrets management, ensuring alignment with applicable security and governance requirements.
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and ArgoCD to support secure, consistent and reliable application deployments.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents, technical defects and performance issues, undertaking root cause analysis and implementing preventative improvements.

Technical Skills

• A minimum of three years’ demonstrated hands-on experience in AWS cloud infrastructure engineering and operational support, preferably within complex enterprise or production environments.
• Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience with Amazon EKS and Kubernetes, including cluster administration, upgrades, troubleshooting, patching and performance optimisation.
• Demonstrated experience in infrastructure automation and cloud engineering practices, with the ability to implement reliable, secure and efficient operational solutions.
• Sound knowledge of AWS security architecture and controls, including IAM, IRSA, RBAC, WAF, secrets management and vulnerability management.
• Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Argo CD or comparable deployment technologies.
• Practical experience with monitoring, logging and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Amazon CloudWatch or Dynatrace.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, including experience managing production incidents, undertaking root cause analysis and supporting service recovery.
• Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary technical and security teams.
• Experience supporting business-critical cloud platforms within Australian Government or similarly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code technologies, including Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of GitOps practices and automated deployment methodologies.
• Understanding of Australian Government cybersecurity requirements, including the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential Eight.
• Relevant AWS or Kubernetes certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• Experience supporting major platform releases, security remediation and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
