Yancoal Australia Ltd in Sydney CBD is seeking a seasoned Internal Audit professional to lead risk-based audits and advance analytics capabilities.

Reporting to Audit Manager, you will apply IPPF/COSO/SOX, develop RACMs, and leverage Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query and Alteryx to drive governance and process improvement.

This permanent, full-time role offers a hybrid Sydney-based work arrangement and opportunities across our mining operations.

Qualificações

• Tertiary qualification in accounting, business, finance, engineering, ICT, risk management or related discipline.
• CA, CPA, CIA, or CISA, or an engineering qualification with strong internal audit experience.
• Alteryx Core certification and Azure/Power BI certifications.
• Experience with data analytics and automation using Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, Alteryx or similar.
• Prior internal audit or broad business experience enabling auditing using business logic.
• Experience in mining, metals, manufacturing, construction, utilities, logistics and FMCG.
• Experience in risk management and controls testing.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Basware.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and process improvement capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to work independently.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and execute internal audits across full lifecycle, including planning and reporting.
• Apply IPPF, COSO and SOX frameworks in audits.
• Evaluate internal controls and governance across functions.
• Develop RACMs, process maps and audit documentation.
• Leverage data analytics and automation tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, Power Apps, Alteryx) to enhance audits.
• Maintain dashboards and CAATs to provide actionable insights.
• Analyse large datasets to identify trends and control gaps.
• Assess business processes and data integrity using SAP and other ERPs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address risks and drive improvements.
• Prepare clear audit reports and monitor remediation actions.
• Foster strong relationships and contribute to evolving audit methodologies.
• Support ethics, confidentiality and compliance culture.

Job Tasks And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Audit Manager, you will play a key role in delivering risk-based internal audits, advancing audit analytics capabilities, and providing valuable insights that support effective governance, risk management and control across the business. Responsibilities include:

• Leading and executing internal audits across the full audit lifecycle, including planning, scoping, risk assessment, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up activities.
• Applying a risk-based audit approach in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), COSO Internal Control Framework, SOX requirements and relevant auditing standards.
• Evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes and risk management practices across operational, financial and corporate functions.
• Developing and maintaining Risk and Control Matrices (RACMs), process maps and audit documentation to a high professional standard.
• Leveraging advanced data analytics and automation tools, including Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, Power Apps and Alteryx, to enhance audit effectiveness and efficiency.
• Maintaining and enhancing audit dashboards, automated controls testing and Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs) to provide actionable business insights.
• Analysing large and complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Utilising SAP and other enterprise systems to assess business processes, data integrity and key system controls.
• Partnering with stakeholders across the business to understand risks, provide practical recommendations and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Preparing clear, concise and high-quality audit reports that communicate findings, recommendations and key business risks.
• Monitoring and validating remediation actions to ensure agreed audit recommendations are effectively implemented.
• Building strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation while constructively challenging processes and practices to drive better business outcomes.
• Contributing to the ongoing development of the Internal Audit function, including audit methodologies, analytics capabilities, tools and strategic initiatives.
• Supporting a culture of ethics, integrity, confidentiality and compliance in all audit activities.

Skills And Experience

• Tertiary qualification in accounting, business, finance, engineering, ICT, risk management or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CIA or CISA, or an engineering qualification combined with strong internal audit experience.
• Certification(s) in data analytics such as Alteryx Core certification, Azure / Power BI certifications.
• Demonstrated experience in data analytics and/or automation, including the use of tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, Alteryx or similar platforms.
• Prior experience in an audit role (whether Corporate auditing or Consulting) or a strong business generalist with broad ranging work experience, enabling the application of business logic to undertake auditing.
• Experience working in complex and mature industries such as mining, metals, manufacturing, construction, utilities, logistics and / or FMCG environment (based on type of experience).
• Experience in risk management and / or controls testing.
• Experience utilising evolved and advanced ERP systems such as SAP and Basware.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and process improvement capabilities.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to work independently.
