Job summary

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Internal Audit team in Brisbane. You will work on high-profile client assignments, deliver end-to-end risk and control engagements, and mentor junior staff.

You will apply your knowledge of public sector, higher education, or infrastructure and contribute to reporting, risk assessment, and commercial problem solving. The firm supports flexible and hybrid working.

Qualifications

• CA, CIA or other relevant professional qualification is ideal but not required.
• 3+ years in internal audit service either in-house or professional services.
• Experience with public sector / higher education / infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end internal audit and risk consulting engagements with oversight from a manager.
• Understand clients' risk environments and deliver practical solutions.
• Manage client interactions and coach junior staff.
• Contribute to project administration (billing, WIP).
• Develop high-quality reports with managers.
• Present findings to clients and internal stakeholders to influence decisions.

About this role

We’re looking for a passionate Senior Associate with a strong foundation in internal audit risk and controls, and regulatory frameworks. Key responsibilities

• Delivering end-to-end client internal audit and risk consulting engagements (with oversight and guidance from a manager).
• Understanding clients’ risk environments and applying knowledge to deliver practical solutions.
• Delivery of engagements which will include managing client interactions and overseeing junior resources and coaching junior staff.
• Understanding of project administration (i.e. billing, WIP etc).
• Working with managers to develop high quality reports and engagement deliverables.
• Contributing to commercial problem solving through analysis, critical thinking and logical reasoning.
• Presenting outcomes to clients and internal stakeholders to influence decision-making.

Skills & experience

• CA, CIA or other relevant professional qualification is ideal but not required.
• Candidates currently pursuing professional qualifications are also welcome to apply.
• At least 3 years in providing Internal Audit service either in-house or professional services capacity and have a passion to work with Public Sector / Higher Education / Infrastructure and / or For Purpose organisations.
• Practical experience in business risk, business process reviews, internal audit or internal controls.
• Able to design and prepare audit documentation.
• Able to engage with clients and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong team working skills, with experience in managing and developing junior staff.
• Well-developed listening and questioning techniques, supported by strong analytical skills and organisational activities.
• Curious, keen to learn from others, able to operate independent and have a continuous improvement mindset.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $95,000 inclusive of superannuation per annum.
